For some, attending events is familiar and something that has been done before. For others, it may be a new experience.

 

Some join to explore opportunities or desires that may be frowned upon or shamed by the less sex-positive members of society. Some join to explore their sexuality. Some people join for the opportunity to experience more “firsts”, kinks, or fantasies. 

 

This is often as exciting as it can be intimidating if you have never been in this environment before. We work to create a safe and supportive environment, so you can have fun without worry.

BEHAVIOUR EXPECTATIONS

 

We have a zero-tolerance policy for disrespectful, intimidating, or generally frowned-upon behaviour. You will be asked to leave and strictly banned if you breach these terms. All reports of these behaviours are taken very seriously and acted upon quickly, although we are proud to admit it is a very rare occurrence that we would need to follow through on the type of individuals this would apply to do not tend to make it through our very selective vetting process.

CONSENT

 

Consent is non-negotiable and must be gained for any interaction during our events. If you are interested in joining an individual, pair, or group in any activity or interaction, you must first gain enthusiastic consent.

We advocate for and educate on the recent legislative reforms made by the Victorian Government for "Affirmative Consent" which demands active, clearly communicated and enthusiastic consent. To see a factsheet on what Affirmative Consent looks like, please follow this link.

It is important to understand that each individual and couple will likely also have their own set of personal boundaries and rules which they abide by. Clearly communicating with others to understand and follow both their set rules/boundaries and your own is crucial to facilitating safe and enjoyable interactions.

We have a zero tolerance for discriminatory behaviour & language, and are supportive of all sexualities, sexual preferences and walks of life. Please be respectful and of others when attending our events and help us create an environment free of judgement and stigma

 

CONFIDENTIALITY AND PHOTO-BAN

Phones will be allowed in the social/mingling area, however, patrons are encouraged not to use them.

Phones and any other recording-capable devices are not allowed in the play spaces. We will have a secure storage area for valuable items to be kept outside of the play area while you are exploring it.

 

We have a strictly NO photography policy at the venue to respect the privacy and confidentiality of our members. If you would like to take photos of yourselves, please do so outside of the venue with the consent of all included in the photo and ensure you are not capturing others in the background. Please also ensure that if you are posting these photos to social media, you do not share our location or any hints at where it may be. We keep our venue confidential for our vetted guest’s knowledge only as an extra measure of exclusivity and protection of privacy.

 

Behind Closed Doors Melbourne will under no circumstances post any confidential information or photographs of guests unless explicitly consented to in writing or a signed media sharing waiver. We heavily prioritize the privacy of all our guests and the value of informed consent.

SAFE ENCOUNTERS

Patron safety, comfort, and enjoyment is our number one priority. Having a professional background in health, this is particularly at the forefront of our minds. To interact at our events, we insist all patrons take protective measures and use the prophylactics provided or bring your own if you have special preferences. We provide prophylactics of different sizes, latex & non-latex, feminine hygiene wipes, body wipes, PH balanced lubricant and towels etc. Showers available.

SEXUAL HEALTH TESTING

We are conscious of the fact that infection can be spread through multiple sexual acts, not just penetration, so at our events we provide the OPTION to submit sexual health screen results to us prior to the event as a further measure of informed decision making. 

 

​If choosing to do this, your sexual health screening will need to have been completed (samples collected) within 14 days of the event. If you have submitted a clean screen to us, we will place your entry stamp on your right wrist.  If you have not submitted any information to us, we will place your entry stamp on your left wrist.

This provides a subtle but efficient way for patrons to make informed decisions about their sexual encounters, although we still encourage discussing sexual health backgrounds and checks with potential play partners.

We cannot include all Sexually Transmitted Infection testing on our checks as different providers refer for different tests, so please be mindful that the negative results we review for a right wrist entry stamp are: Gonorrhoeae (Oral and Genital), Chlamydia (Oral & Genital), Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, HIV and Syphallis. To easily organise a pathology script without the hassle of booking expensive appointments, we highly recommend requesting a pathology referral through a reputable online medical clinic such as Instant Scripts. This allows you to receive an affordable pathology referral within 30 minutes and take it in to your local Pathologist.

If you are unable to provide recent results for all the infections listed above, we will unfortunately not be able to provide you with an entry stamp on your right wrist. For other patrons to see this stamp placement they assume it means we have checked results for all of the above, therefore we cannot make exceptions if you are missing one or two conditions on your results.

Regardless of submitting test results to us or not (which about 60% of patrons do) we encourage you to get regular testing and discuss this with any potential sexual partners.
